is this the first time someone has tried to create false digigrade legs? like that is so close to what we have now for fursuits im honestly curious on how long before this film we've been attempting to recreate them

That's a big question too, because we'd have to determine if a fursuit is merely a creature costume, a personal expression or a specific pattern of suit. There are fullbody animal suits from the 1800s ! But from my knowledge those are for theatre plays; and then at that point I'm sure we've been reenacting animals until the dawn of time. I wonder if the requirement is "someone's fictional character", specifically, but then that gets tricky in its own right because the only line we have for mythos vs fictional characters nowadays is copyright. (us contributing hatsune miku as a deity of creation for even things she hasn't done is not so unlike how greek heroes could be a mixture of stories and historic events by various people merged under a single credit, the things we're missing is context that got lost to time, how would people see hatsune miku in a thousand years if half of us context was lost?) Which isn't to call mythos fiction, but to say that I guess it's hard to know the relation the people wearing the suits would have to whatever they're portraying without lived context. MANY thoughts to be had about why we put on animal suits... for me, creative things almost always boil down to play... i think we as a species have such a unique ability to play. play a part/role, play pretend, play a game, etc. we have a unique ability to put our minds into another place separate from us and reality. we can literally travel dimensions through play! i think its a very sacred and awesome thing to be able to play as a species. i have many thoughts on this as well haha...

PLAY IS SO IMPORTANT I FEEL THE SAME WAY !!! video games is play. creating is play. i see my characters as single player roleplays and collaborating as playing toys... when i was sitting at the doctor's office, on the big tv was this guy being interviewed on his garden, and he said "people are happiest when doing what they've always done, throughout history. Playing music, gardening, telling stories, etc etc are all just a human's instinct" and I haven't stopped thinking about it in a way. but omg... EVEN BEES PLAY...!!!

EXACTLY! to me, play is a very holy sacred thing, because i think that its how we really connect to being alive, and celebrate life! i wanna write about all my thoughts surrounding it someday :-D
